UNTIL WHEN?

I feel like preaching in here, somebody turn up my mic! I need the whole room to hear this. Did I do well in my preacher voice?

Well, if there’s one profound lesson I’m learning from this Leadership Bootcamp, it is this: as a believer, and even more so as a leader, you and I are called to be agents of change. It’s no longer enough to simply show up for church every Sunday, warm the pews, and count down the days until the next service. Christianity is not a passive activity; it’s a call to action.

We are not called to settle for a mediocre status quo or to become complacent with religious routines. Instead, we must rise and live out our faith practically. We are needed beyond church attendance and fellowship circles. We are called to bring transformation, not just within the church walls, but out in the world where change is desperately needed.

To be honest, the understanding of salvation I grew up with is not the full picture. As I grow in faith and leadership, I’ve come to realize that salvation is not something we hold onto in silence and label as personal. It is not just about believing in God; it is about obeying Him.

Obedience is where many of us falter. We claim to know Christ, but we hesitate when He calls us to act. Yet Jesus’ command was clear: “Go and make disciples.” He didn’t say, Sit in church from January to December, taking notes. He said Go. True discipleship happens outside the church, in uncomfortable spaces, in the streets, in broken communities, in the real world.

The church is meant to equip us. It’s our training ground. But fearless influence? That happens outside. That’s where we are called to be salt and light, to stand firm and boldly proclaim hope and peace in places filled with chaos and despair.

And it doesn’t stop at reaching the lost. Once people give their lives to Jesus, we must walk with them. We’re responsible for helping them grow, introducing them to the Bible, guiding them through foundational truths, and standing with them until they’re strong enough to walk in faith on their own. Discipleship is a journey, not an event. We do have an incredible discipleship tool called MIZIZI I encourage anyone who is yet to go through this amazing experience to plug in. You can sign up for it at any Mavuno church closer to you or from our website www.mavunochurch.org. Trust me, it will grow your faith and relationship with God.

Moreover, fearless influence goes beyond spiritual matters; it extends to social transformation. We are called to initiate change in society. To challenge injustice. To speak up where silence has prevailed. To start movements that bring light into dark places. It could be to empower children, youth, and even adults with hope, wisdom, and purpose.

As for me, I’m trusting God to help me live out this mandate. To lead where He sends me. To obey when He calls. I may not have it all figured out, but I now understand what’s expected of me, and I am willing. This season has blessed me and deeply challenged me. I can no longer unsee what I now know. It’s time to step up. It’s time to be bold.

How about you, will you stop warming the pews and decide to make this your call too? How many more sermons will you have to listen to before you act? Until when?
